(Apologies if anyone hears of this already--it's posted at UltramanLah! and several other tokusatsu-related message boards. I'm usually almost the last person to learn this kind of news.)

It doesn't appear to be officially confirmed (yet), but looks like a new Ultraman TV series is in the work and will be airing in October this year. Not that I, as a lowly foreign fan, can affect their decision, but I would rather Tsuburaya take a break from Ultraman for a year or two. (And I want Mebius sequel, or at least another movie.)
No Way

Let it be in the Showa canon! Let it be in the Showa canon! Let it be in the Showa canon! XD

...Or, how would you feel about a live-action version of Ultraman Story 0? :)

Hopefully you are right about this being set in the Showa canon. (Well, at least I heard something about Ultra Seven, though not the original or 21.)

Live-action version of Ultraman Story 0? I would probably say yes on principle, but I confess my utter ignorance and hope you (or someone) would take pity on me and let me know what it is about. ^^;

Oh, thanks. Here I was wondering about why they chose Ultraseven again since, compared to other Ultra series, this show already has a lot of sequels and spin-offs. I hadn't thought about this year being the 40th anniversary for it at all.

And I totally agree with you. More Mebius would not come amiss.

I'd forgotten that it's the 40 year on UltraSeven as well. I assumed that it's because Seven is generally considered to be the favorite of the Ultraman series. It's certainly had a lot of revivals...

Ultra Zero is a manga series that goes through a lot of Ultra back story. So it starts with how they became Ultra, and then have a bunch of various side stories. One is how Seven acquired Miclas, and where he got the idea for doing the boomerang with his fin -- stuff like that. Very interesting. It's endorsed by Tsuburaya, so I'm assuming that it's reasonably canon.

Seven being a fan favorite could also be the reason. Strange, since I read from various places (I can't verify the info, but I assume it is true) that Ultraseven wasn't really doing well at the time it first aired.

Thank you very much. I think I'll try to find me some Ultra Zero to read. ^^
